PolyTherics was founded in 2002 upon expertise developed in the laboratories of Professor Steve Brocchini, a leading polymer chemist from the London School of Pharmacy, and Professor Sunil Shaunak, a specialist in infectious diseases from Imperial College London.
Since its inception, PolyTherics has focused on technology development in the area of biomedical polymers for therapeutic applications. The most advanced of its techniques, site-specific PEGylation or TheraPEG , is being exploited in partnership with companies developing biopharmaceuticals. PolyTherics is also committed to developing its own pipeline of optimised clinical candidates.
PolyTherics was funded by the Bloomsbury Bioseed Fund, Wellcome Trust and the Imperial College Seed Fund. Three commercial partnerships with product-focused companies are underway and are already generating revenues for the company.
PolyTherics is registered as a Company in England (No. 4295642).
