PolyTherics - Precision Biopharmaceuticals

Ways to collaborate

PolyTherics has undertaken feasibility studies to create and produce PEGylated proteins and peptides for large pharmaceutical, biotech and biopharmaceutical companies under research licence agreements. The Company has successfully PEGylated both novel and established peptides and proteins:

  • Novel proteins and peptides - to enable proof-of-concept studies to be expedited
  • Established proteins and peptides (marketed biologics) - to create biobetter products

The feasibility studies are undertaken in PolyTherics’ laboratories under a research collaboration licence and can usually be completed in about 12 weeks from receipt of the protein or peptide from the collaborator. PolyTherics has the capability to conduct some in vitro assessments of the activity of the PEGylated protein or peptide in-house, depending on the method, and can provide PEGylated product to the collaborator for further research studies.

Following successful PEGylation under a research licence agreement the partner company may choose to:

  • Extend the collaboration with an option to take a commercial licence to PolyTherics’ intellectual property (IP) for further research with PEGylated versions of its product
  • Take a licence for continued development and/or commercialisation of their PEGylated product with research support and transfer of know-how from PolyTherics.

As an alternative to conducting a feasibility study under a research collaboration agreement PolyTherics has also undertaken exploratory PEGylation under a licence option agreement with commercial terms.

PolyTherics has been very successful in obtaining grant-funding to support feasibility studies and subsequent collaborative research and is interested in discussing other opportunities to participate in such schemes. The Company is currently a recipient of grants from the Technology Strategy Board and Eurostars
