PolyTherics will apply its proprietary drug modification technologies to a target protein of commercial interest to Minapharm.

PolyTherics Limited, the biopharmaceuticals company dedicated to precision engineering of biologics to improve their pharmacokinetic properties, is delighted to announce that a second patent has been allowed covering the targeted PEGylation of proteins. Issued by the United States Patent Office, this allowance protects PolyTherics’ PEGylation technology in the two largest pharmaceutical markets in the world. This exciting news comes just two weeks after the allowance of the first patent within Europe.

PolyTherics Limited, the biopharmaceuticals company dedicated to precision engineering of biologics to improve their pharmacokinetic properties, is delighted to announce that its first patent covering the targeted PEGylation of proteins has been allowed in Europe. The patent claims the use of a unique linker developed at PolyTherics that enables precision attachment of PEG to natural disulfide bonds in proteins.

[May 2009] PolyTherics and Celtic Pharma enter Product Licence Agreement for novel optimised biopharmaceuticals

PolyTherics today announced the extension of its relationship with Celtic Pharma Development Services Bermuda Ltd (“Celtic Pharma”), the global private equity investment fund focused on the development of therapeutic products in the biopharma industry. An initial collaboration agreement was entered into just over twelve months ago, aimed at generating modified biologics with improved half-life and predictable bioactivity. PolyTherics has now granted Celtic Pharma an exclusive licence to develop and commercialise the first novel biotherapeutic discovered in this collaboration.

Dr Ji-won Choi, Head of Biology will present data tomorrow showing that novel recombinant antibody fragments can be selectively modified by PEGylation without compromising their bioactivity.
