PolyTherics appoints new Chairman
PolyTherics Limited (“PolyTherics”), the biopharmaceutical company dedicated to precision engineering of proteins and peptides to improve their pharmacokinetic properties, is pleased to announce that Dr Ken Cunningham has been appointed Chairman. Dr Mike Hayes, the current Non-Executive Chairman, will continue as a Non-Executive Director.
Dr Cunningham has over 20 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry. He is currently Chief Executive Officer of SkyePharma, having joined the Company in 2006, initially as Chief Operating Officer. Previously, he was Chief Executive Officer of Arakis Ltd, Vice-President European Affairs at Alza Corporation and Vice-President Clinical Development at Sequus Inc. Prior to this he held a variety of clinical development and commercial strategy roles at GlaxoWellcome plc and, earlier in his career, was with Warner-Lambert. Dr Cunningham is a Non-Executive Director of Xention Ltd. He holds a medical degree from St Mary's, Imperial College, London University.
PolyTherics has substantial expertise in the targeted modification of biologic compounds with therapeutic potential. Through its platform of site specific technologies to conjugate poly (ethylene glycol) (PEG) to proteins and peptides, the Company systematically optimises the performance of biologics for administration as parenteral drugs. Its most advanced programme is an interferon alpha PEGylated using its HiPEG™ technology that is being developed as biobetter medicine. The Company has launched a new website which provides the latest information on all its technologies.
