Polytherics is applying its know-how and intellectual property in the area of biomedical polymers to the discovery and development of tailored biotherapeutics.
PolyTherics adopts a balanced risk strategy to the development of its product portfolio and recognises the importance of developing its commercial partnerships as well as its proprietary programmes. Partnerships allow PolyTherics to access both proprietary and generic proteins and to combine complementary expertise with its collaborators to benefit product development.
At present, PolyTherics has three active collaborations progressing towards product development.
- Partnership with Shantha Biotech of India on Interferon-alfa
- Major collaboration on a protein proprietary to a top ten pharma company
- Evaluation of biomedical polymers in collaboration with a prominent biotechnology company
PolyTherics is presently seeking partnerships in the following areas.
- Service agreements. Collaborators supply a proprietary therapeutic protein candidate and PolyTherics applies TheraPEG technology to the protein in its own facilities. Such arrangements are conducted on a fee-for-service basis to allow the partner the chance to evaluate TheraPEG technology in the context of its own protein. Such service agreements ma either be extended to additional candidate proteins and thereafter into licensiing agreements under very attractive commercial terms.
- 'Next Generation Antibody' partnerships. PolyTherics wishes to engage in product development partnerships with biopharmaceutical specialists. PolyTherics applies TheraPEG technology to the protein and the partner develops and commercialises novel TheraPEG technology-based therapeutics thereafter, paying milestones and a royalty to PolyTherics.
- 'Biosimilar Protein' partnerships. Therpeutic proteins which are either off patent or generic are of great interest to PolyTherics as the subject of product development collaborations with biotherapeutics-focused companies.
- Therapeutic protein in-licensing. The Company is seeking protein candidates for in-licensing, development and expedited market approval.
