PolyTherics is developing two biobetter products which it intends to out-license for clinical development and commercialisation.
- Interferon (IFN) α-2a – PEGylated using HiPEG™ (HiPEG™ IFN α-2a)
- IFN β-1b – PEGylated using TheraPEG™ (TheraPEG™ IFN β-1b)
PolyTherics also has a programme in which recombinant unglycosylated erythropoietin (EPO) produced in Escherichia coli has been PEGylated using TheraPEG™. We have shown an extended half-life for PEGylated EPO in vivo. This programme has huge cost benefit compared with EPO produced in mammalian cells and is available for further research collaboration.
HiPEG™ IFN α-2a is the most advanced of the Company’s programmes and improved potency in vitro versus a PEGylated marketed IFN and an extended half-life in a preclinical model have been demonstrated. PolyTherics has selected a contract manufacturing organisation to scale-up protein production and PEGylation.
