TheraPEG™
Proteins have complex structures and many contain one or more disulfide bonds. PolyTherics has developed a precise way of attaching one or more PEG molecules to accessible disulfide bonds to create a protein with improved properties; this technology is referred to as TheraPEG™. Accessible disulfide bonds do not usually confer protein function so can be modified using TheraPEG™ without destroying the activity of the protein.
TheraPEG™ has been successfully applied to a wide range of proteins, and peptides, as shown below. Activity has been demonstrated, in vitro, for all of the PEGylated proteins and peptides listed.
PolyTherics has successfully applied TheraPEG™ to Shantha Biotech’s proprietary IFN α-2b, Shanferon, and Shantha has taken a licence to TheraPEG™ for this application. The TheraPEG™ technology has been transferred to Shantha and manufacture has been scaled-up to produce product for clinical development.
PolyTherics is also working with Celtic Pharma to create and produce biobetter products using TheraPEG™.
| Category | Protein/peptide |
